It is always loads of fun to discuss Bollywood...but at zentangle land?? true..I never expected that... During our initial correspondence regarding the seminar with Rick (Co-founder of Zentangle) I was pleasantly surprised when he asked me if I could speak Hindi?.... I then found out Rick has an Indian connection...he was a monk for many yrs and has traveled and lived in northern India...yet to be able to speak a foreign language I thought was awesome.

So, I was super excited to converse in Hindi with Rick at the seminar and during our conversation, he told me he learned the language himself watching Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha's movies!!!! Can you believe that?? Inspite of not have spoken in Hindi for a long time now, he spoke fluently in his American accent.....and I sure did enjoy listening to him....
Even as I was still in awe of Rick, I met Sadelle my fellow participant at the seminar and guess what she is a big fan of Bollywood..

She has watched Guzarish, Dhobi Ghat and a number of Shahrukh khan's movies. Infact she is big fan of SRK and also has a cute black kitty named Shahrukh...
and that is Shahrukh...
I had a great time discussing bollywood in particular the upcoming movie RaOne and Akon's Chamak Challo song...
Did I mention, I felt right at home...

Oh Bollywood is always a never ended topic for discussion among Indian frnds... Awesome.. The founder of zentangle itself is a big fan of Bollywood?? Looks like you had a great time there... Hope 3 days would have not been sufficient... Also you would have been the center of attention ;) with your Mehandi, Bollywood and Hindi ;) ;)
Yeah Sai...3 days were just not enough...and Oh!! I wish I was the center of attraction...
Oh, Sandhya.. if we'd had more time I sure would have loved to talk more about Bollywood! I think we own about 8 or so dvds now.. movies that I've watched enough times that I had to have my own copy to share... like Bunty aur Babli, Main Hoon Na, Paheli, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Partner (I just adore watching Govinda dance!!), Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Delhi 6... there are still a few I want to buy outright just because they're so much fun to share with friends. And Saturday we're driving down to Bloomfield, CT to try and catch Ra.One in the theater.. I figure that should be a theater-worthy movie!
I'm amazed to hear Rick learned some of his Hindi from the Bachchan films of the 70's! I'm trying to pick up a little.. but mostly I'm just getting individual words here and there.. and the script has me completely baffled.. (even if I was a language major in college and used to speak fluent Russian..)
Anyway, we'll just need to catch up on films via the internet...

Oh! my God Sadelle you are awesome...I soo wish we had more time discussing all of that... Ra one 2D is releasing here today...and on friday the 3D is releasing... hope to catch it too over the weekend...yes..it would be nice in the theater...let me know abt it if you get it first..
