PAA Art Gives Back

Posted on: June 7, 2011 at 5:13 am

The Plano Art Association has partnered with the Plano library system to create a new community art exhibit to be displayed in all Plano libraries. Art Gives Back is an opportunity  for artists to help the city of Plano libraries in these tough times. Also, it is an opportunity for the artists to raise their profile. Sales of the artworks will be split between the artist and the library, who will use it to buy art books.

The PAA purchased fifty 4" x 4" canvasses, ready to be turned into beautiful small artworks that will be displayed in an exhibit that moves between the libraries in Plano.

They would be sold for $50 ($25 will go to the artist, and $25 to the Library), and will also feature on an online page, complete with a Purchase button, so everyone will be able to see the works and details of the artist. This is a fun way to bring art further into the everyday lives of the community, and the free-standing, mobile "art cart" will be very eye-catching and beautiful.

The exhibit opens in early June, and we will have an inaugural event to celebrate the launch of the Art Gives Back program!

I decided to buy two canvasses. One for embossed painting and the other for the watercolor and ink patterns.

Here is what I made out of my two canvasses.

I painted both the canvasses with acrylic Burnt Sienna for the background. For the watercolor piece, I stuck the painting on the canvas...also used black ink for the fine details.
Somehow the  embossed title still looked pale so decided to add few colors on the silver rounds. Yeah, the plan was to show the silver rounds, but then decided to change the plan at the last minute....
Sorry forgot to click a picture of it...:( , so can't show you  how the final piece looked. But, I will remember to get a picture at the inaugural.

Sooo what do you think??
