The 56th Annual Juied Members Show Receiption

Posted on: May 24, 2011 at 4:17 am

It was a Sunday, and a big day for me. This is my 3rd group Art Exhibit this year. It definitely was a moment of excitement as all the three artwork that I submitted was selected for the show. Yet I was nervous by the thought of meeting other artists, initiating a conversation, making a connection, talk about my art and style.....

So after picking our daughter from her music class at about 1:00 PM..we drove to Irving to a friends place for lunch.  After lunch we left for the reception. The event had began by the time we reached. I wore an Off white Saree with huge colorful flowers and sequence. The awards ceremony was about to start as we entered.  All the artists were seated and the President of the Art Association was mentioning other future events that were to take place at the center. Snacks, muffins, brownies and drinks were laid out on the table at the center of the gallery and beautiful artworks of the juried artists were hung all around.  It was indeed a great collection of artworks in different  mediums and themes.

My favorite among all the artworks was this watercolor painting of pears titled “Fruitful” by Barabara Mason . The beautiful painting was awarded the best of the show award. Unfortunately, the artist could not make it to the event but her husband attended the event and collected her award...he appeared so proud of her.

My daughter was a little upset that I didn't win any awards (so much of a pressure to perform!!!). But my work was appreciated by other artists for the colors and technique.
We spent the rest of the event clicking pictures, talking about the art and other art events that were happening around. It was truly an evening to remember.

The Show will be on exhibit through May 29 in the East Gallery at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts in Irving, Texas.
